Volusia County Schools and Volusia United Educators (VUE) have successfully overcome an impasse to settle their contract, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing negotiations. The agreement, which promises substantial benefits to support staff, has been eagerly anticipated by all parties involved.
Key highlights of the agreement, which will bring relief and improved working conditions to support staff, include:
- 2.5% Salary Increase
- Increase in Longevity Pay
With these critical terms settled, the next phase in the process involves the agreement ratification, which will take place during the week of November 6, 2023. Once ratified, the agreement will proceed to the board for formal approval on November 14, 2023, when payment distribution information will also be released.
Additionally, information regarding the ratification process will be communicated soon to keep all parties involved informed and engaged throughout the process.
"We are glad that the teams were able to overcome the impasse and come to a resolution to reach an agreement for our deserving support staff. These employees are vital to the operations of our schools, day in and day out, so we are pleased to come together to support them," said Superintendent Dr. Carmen Balgobin.
