Volusia County Schools Superintendent Dr. Carmen Balgobin has announced a significant development in collaboration with the Volusia United Educators (VUE) to enhance teacher compensation for tutoring services. In an official memorandum of understanding (MOU), both parties have agreed to increase the hourly pay for teachers engaged in tutoring activities.
The MOU, officially signed by representatives of Volusia County Schools and VUE today, sets the new hourly compensation rate for tutoring sessions conducted before, during, and after school at $35.
According to a release, previously, the hourly rate for tutoring offered before and after school was $30 an hour.
“Volusia County Schools is thrilled that VUE has come to the table with us to increase opportunities for teachers to be compensated for the vital services they provide every single day,” Balgobin stated. “In addition to the increased hourly rate teachers received in the last contract, this increase demonstrates our dedication to teachers, who provide outstanding educational opportunities to the county’s students.”
This change will go into effect starting the 2023-24 school year.
