Volusia County's Community Assistance Division has announced two crucial public meetings to engage residents and interested parties to discuss the forthcoming Consolidated One-Year Action Plan for Fiscal Year 2023/24. This plan will outline the utilization of funding from various programs, including the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG).
The in-person meetings are integral to the planning process, allowing community members to contribute their insights and opinions to effectively address the community's needs by allocating entitlement funds toward strategic activities.
The first meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, at the Alonzo "Babe" James Community Center at 201 N. Myrtle Avenue in New Smyrna Beach. The second meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, at the Dr. Joyce M. Cusack Resource Center at 481 W. Mathis St. in DeLand.
For the Community Development Block Grant program, Volusia County will receive a sum of $1,695,278, and the Home Investment Partnerships program will allocate $789,214 toward community development initiatives. However, no funding has been secured for the Emergency Solutions Grant program.
Those requiring non-English materials for the meetings should contact Brittany Louis at 386-736-5955 in advance.
