Two Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities
Plan now to enjoy great spring weather while volunteering. Green Volusia Volunteers and Be Floridian Now have organized two outdoor volunteer initiatives for residents and visitors.
Epiphyte Walk at DeBary Hall Historic Site with Be Floridian Now
9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, join Be Floridian Now at DeBary Hall, 198 Sunrise Blvd., to discover native air plants, lichen, fern, moss, and other plants that don’t need soil to survive. Participants will be able to take a guided tour of the grounds and discover these plants and the wild Bartram’s orchid. After the walk, participants can create their own air plant display to take home.
Spring Break Beach Cleanup with Green Volusia
9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, Green Volusia will host a family-friendly beach cleanup during Volusia County’s Spring Break at Sun Splash Park, 611 South Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach. While there, participants will be able to learn about what can impact sea life, beach habitat, and the shoreline while picking up trash. Buckets will be provided, but participants should bring gloves.
All ages are welcome, and reservations are required for both events. For more information, contact Holly Giles at hgiles@volusia.org or 386-736-5927, ext. 12330, or search for Green Volusia activities on Eventbrite.com.
