The Volusia County Sheriff's Office took to social media on Friday, after a small plane crashed into the front yard of a residence on Guava Drive in Port Orange.
According to their official Facebook post, the mishap occurred when a small aircraft departing from Spruce Creek Fly-In encountered engine trouble mid-flight, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing, resulting in the plane crashing into the yard of 2412 Guava Drive.
Both occupants miraculously remained conscious and alert despite the crash. One of the occupants, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been notified and will investigate the cause of the engine failure and subsequent crash.
