Tour De Force 9/11 Memorial Ride Scheduled for Saturday, September 12.

The “Tour De Force 9/11 Memorial Ride,” a 51-mile route bike ride, that will pay tribute to those who died during 9/11, is scheduled for Saturday, September 12. The event will kick-off at 8 a.m. Saturday with an opening ceremony, and kickstands up by 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided at the end of the ride.

150 bike riders, including Law Enforcement Offices throughout Florida, will begin their trek from the Dayton Beach Police Department (DBPD) Headquarters in Daytona Beach. The 51-mile route also has riders going through New Smyrna Beach, Port Orange, South Daytona, Daytona’s beachside, Holly Hill, and Ormond Beach.

A Law Enforcement motorcade will accompany the cyclists through the route, occasionally blocking traffic, and vehicles will be available to carry any riders who are unable to finish.

Riders will be traveling at 15MPH on some of eastern Volusia’s most traveled roadways, including State Road 415/Tomoka Farms Road, Pioneer Trail, U.S. 1/Ridgewood Avenue, State Road 40/Granada Boulevard, and Clyde Morris Boulevard.

Four rest stops are set up throughout the route, one being the Cabbage Patch off of State Road 415, where a brief moment of silence will be held here for the fallen Volusia County Sheriff’s Senior Deputy Frank Scofield.

The event will take place rain or shine, and all proceeds will benefit local law enforcement charities.
