The Ormond Beach Police Department has announced that Corporal Rhett Summerlot, Officer Rafael Medina, and Chief Jesse Godfrey are gearing up to participate in the 2023 Police Unity Tour. This 3-day, 250-mile bicycle ride takes place in May 2023, and participants will ride from Portsmouth, Virginia, to Washington D.C.
The tour is dedicated to raising awareness about police officers killed in the line of duty and supporting the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum.
The Ormond Beach Police Department members, who will represent the department in the Police Unity Tour, are required to raise a minimum of $2,000 per rider to participate in the event. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, the Police Unity Tour has been instrumental in promoting the awareness of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.
The tour also raises funds to support the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum, which honors more than 26,000 men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in serving their communities. The memorial features a blue-gray marble wall inscribed with the names of all the slain officers.
The Ormond Beach Police Department is proud to have Corporal Rhett Summerlot, Officer Rafael Medina, and Chief Jesse Godfrey represent the department in this event. Their participation highlights the department’s commitment to supporting law enforcement officers and recognizing their ultimate sacrifice.
