State-wide Silver Alert issued for James M. Sheffield Jr.

The Port Orange Police Department is actively searching for James M. Sheffield Jr., a white male born on September 29, 1942. Family members disclosed that Mr. Sheffield may have Alzheimer's or some other irreversible deterioration of intellectual faculties.
The Police Department listed Mr. Sheffield as a missing person late Tuesday night, issuing a state-wide Silver Alert to mobilize assistance in locating him. The Silver Alert program broadcasts information about missing persons, especially seniors with cognitive impairments, to a state-wide audience to facilitate their safe return.
According to police, Mr. Sheffield was last seen at the White Palm Apartments, at 5400 S. Williamson Boulevard in Port Orange, around 9:00 am Tuesday. He left his residence driving a silver 2002 Dodge Ram with Florida license plate number 7435XM. Images of the vehicle were captured just before 10 am Tuesday by a license plate reader in St. Augustine, Florida, specifically on SR-207 westbound, east of I-95 in St. John’s County.
Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Mr. Sheffield or his vehicle should contact Volusia County Dispatch, at 386-248-1777.
