Port Orange teacher arrested for sexual relationship with a student.

A teacher from Atlantic High School in Port Orange was arrested Sunday following allegations of an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student.
According to the Port Orange Police Department, Atlantic High School’s gym teacher and football coach, Arin Hankerd began a relationship with a student around the first week in January which continued until a report was made on Friday, February 10. Detectives from the Special Investigations Unit investigated over the weekend, which led to the arrest of Hankerd after 7 p.m. on February 12, 2023, while executing a search warrant at his residence.
Hankerd previously worked at Mainland High School and Father Lopez, both in Daytona Beach, before his current teaching assignment at Atlantic approximately two years. He was arrested on several criminal charges and is currently in custody at the Volusia County Jail with a total bond of $115,000.
