Recent rainfall has prompted the temporary closure of Lake Beresford Park, located at 2100 Fatio Road in DeLand, as construction delays hinder progress on the new train track expansion for the SunRail service extension to DeLand. Volusia County Parks, Recreation, and Culture officials have announced that the closure is expected to persist until early 2024.
Despite the closure of Lake Beresford Park, outdoor enthusiasts can still enjoy the St. Johns River to Sea Loop trail west of the train tracks. Access points to the trail are conveniently located at the Blue Springs Avenue Trailhead and near Blue Springs State Park on French Avenue. These trail sections will remain open to the public throughout the construction period.
For residents and visitors looking for an alternative place for outdoor activities while Lake Beresford Park is closed, Spring Hill Park at 903 S. Thompson Street in DeLand offers a variety of amenities, including a playground, pavilions, and restrooms.
