Families with Children in Volusia County Schools are utilizing AdventHealth Video Visits, formerly known as eCare, three times more than they were before the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The video visits were initially for 36 schools in the area, with a high absenteeism.

AdventHealth and the school district expanded the program to include students across the county after Governor DeSantis issued a safer-at-home order, April 3.

Now, over 60 families are using the free video visit with a healthcare provider.

Used via the AdventHealth App, residents with school-age children can gain access to healthcare provider for urgent non-acute medical needs 24/7. Students and their parents can use their smartphones or tablets to participate in face-to-face video chat with board-certified physicians or nurse practitioners.

The program helps to treat urgent care issues like pink eye, cough, cold/flu, minor injuries, allergies, and more.

The visits help students get diagnosed, gain treatment options, receive follow-up instructions, and obtain prescriptions if needed.

If prescriptions are provided, it will be called into the family's pharmacy of choice.

When a call is made a school nurse will triage the student's symptoms, to see if it meets the criteria for the visits. Once symptoms have been determined the student receives a voucher as an exclusive benefit.

Parents can download the AdventHealth App, to redeem the voucher (a $59 Value) for a total of $88,500 in free healthcare that is pledged for Volusia County Schools Students.
