Volusia County to Host Motocross Facility Public Meeting
Volusia County will host a public information meeting regarding a proposed motocross facility from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at the Tomoka Landfill Operations Center, 1990 Tomoka Farms Road, Port Orange. Exhibits depicting the proposed project will be on display, and County staff will be available to share information and answer questions.
The public is encouraged to attend this meeting and offer input regarding this proposed project. Public comment forms will also be available that can be submitted at the meeting or emailed to sbaker@volusia.org.
In February, Hunden Strategic Partners, along with architects at Convergence Design, presented the results of a feasibility and pro forma study related to a conceptualized motocross facility with two full-sized competitive motocross tracks and other potentially phased amenities on the 65-acre site. After the presentation, the Volusia County Council asked staff to provide additional information on costs and options for a county-built and operated facility vs. a public-private partnership to build and manage the facility. The County Council has not voted on the issue yet.
If approved, the facility would be built west of Tomoka Farms Road and south of Shunz Road on county-owned lands that are part of the Tomoka Landfill.
Two or more members of the Volusia County Council plan to attend the meeting.
