Volusia County's Community Assistance Division is extending a helping hand to local governments and qualifying not-for-profit agencies 501(c)(3) in their efforts to combat the ongoing challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic. Remaining funds, a part of a prior award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant– Coronavirus Program (CDBG-CV), are available for allocation.
Authorized under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, these funds, totaling $625,000, have been earmarked for eligible public facility enhancements and public services. Specifically designed to cater to clients or groups falling within the low- or moderate-income brackets, proposed projects must adhere to CDBG guidelines and focus on prevention, preparation, or response to the effects of the pandemic.
For consideration, proposed capital projects need to be readily implementable, coined as "shovel ready," with a completion deadline set for June 30, 2025. However, it is essential to note that the cities of Daytona Beach, Port Orange, and Deltona cannot access these funds as they are eligible to receive their own Community Development Block Grant allocation.
To gain further insight into the eligible application processes and to receive the necessary forms, interested parties are encouraged to reach out to Eva Colee at 386-736-5955 ext. 15593 or via email at ecolee@volusia.org. The window for applications remains open until 2 p.m. on December 1.
