Turtle Day Festival at the Marine Science Center
Mark your calendars to celebrate Turtle Day, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Marine Science Center, 100 Lighthouse Drive, Ponce Inlet. This event is a free, family-friendly festival where guests can enjoy close encounters with endangered sea turtles and other marine life. The center invites guests for live music, crafts, exhibits, and opportunities to learn more about the mission of rescuing and rehabilitating sea turtles and seabirds.
During the event, staff will share how they care for injured birds and sea turtles, while exhibitors from regional conservation and environmental organizations will be present, providing information on their community-focused work. Guests can experience the center’s touch pool, which features cownose rays and hermit crabs. They can also venture through the recently opened Raptor Education and Conservation Exhibit where they can encounter glove-trained birds of prey.
The Marine Science Center serves as an environmental learning hub, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of various species of sea turtles and seabirds. Their mission is to provide engaging marine and environmental education through immersive and interactive experiences, while emphasizing conservation efforts and environmental stewardship.
For further details, visit www.marinesciencecenter.com or call 386-304-5545. This year’s event will not feature a turtle release and the Ponce Inlet Boat Ramp will be closed.
