Talk to a Social Worker at the Volusia County Public Library
Talking to a social worker just got easier. Through an innovative program called Social Worker in the Libraries, Volusia County’s social workers are providing one-on-one assistance and expert referrals in each of Volusia County’s 14 public library branches.
The social workers visit several branches each week to provide information and referrals to various programs and services, including WIC, SNAP, and employment resources. They also provide information on housing, employment, health insurance, legal services, and substance abuse and mental health resources.
This service is a joint effort between Volusia County’s Community Assistance and Library Services divisions to increase accessibility to social services. Because the social workers travel among the branches, residents are asked to schedule an appointment at their branch of choice at.
