NFL star Raheem Mostert, the starting running back for the Miami Dolphins, returned to his hometown of New Smyrna Beach to help spread holiday cheer and pass out a truckload of toys to local children at New Smyrna Beach City Hall.
According to a release, Mayor Fred Cleveland took the opportunity to proclaim December 20, 2022, as the second "Raheem Mostert Day" in New Smyrna Beach history. The first Raheem Mostert Day was declared by former Mayor Russ Owen on February 2, 2020, following Mostert's record-setting rushing performance of 220 years and four touchdowns on 29 carries in the San Francisco 49ers' NFC championship victory over the Green Bay Packers on January 19, 2020.
The toy giveaway, held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, was funded by the Raheem Mostert Waves of Success Foundation, which was recently founded by Raheem and his wife, Devon Mostert, to provide youth opportunities through scholarships, programming, and real-life experiences.
