Volusia County will temporarily close the pedestrian walkover at Ninth Avenue in New Smyrna Beach beginning Monday, April 8, to allow for the completion of hurricane repairs. It is expected to reopen in May. The structure will be rebuilt to meet current ADA compliance. During the construction, beachgoers can use the pedestrian walkovers at Eighth or Tenth avenues.
Residents and visitors may download the Volusia Beaches app for real-time information on beach access points and to locate a staffed lifeguard tower. This app provides up-to-date information about beach access availability and safety updates.
