The UF/IFAS Extension in Volusia County is offering a First-time Homebuyer Program, which includes pre-purchase homebuyer workshops designed to fulfill the educational requirement from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Conducted by UF/IFAS Extension Agent Lisa Hamilton, a certified HUD housing counselor and accredited financial counselor, these virtual classes on Zoom are scheduled for English-speaking participants on the following dates:
- 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on January 12 and 19
- 5 to 9 p.m. on February 8 and 15
- 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 15 and 22
Additionally, a Spanish language class will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on January 11.
Each session spans eight hours of education, and participants will receive a certificate of completion. This certificate qualifies them to apply for a federal down payment and closing cost assistance program available through Volusia County, Seminole County, and the City of Deltona.
Enrollment is $10 per household, with scholarships available upon request. Advance registration is mandatory. Participants may visit https://homebuyered.eventbrite.com or call 386-822-5778 for more information.
