City Works to Combat Waterway Pollution
In a proactive move to protect its waterways, the Environmental Advisory Board and the city of Port Orange announced plans to install a Watergoat at Riverwalk Park. The Watergoat, a floating net-like barrier, will serve as a crucial tool in preventing litter and debris from entering the waterways. Designed to intercept trash that flows through storm drains, the Watergoat acts as a barrier, capturing debris before it can pollute the surrounding water bodies. By installing this innovative device, the City aims to mitigate the environmental impact of litter and safeguard the health of its ecosystems. It is scheduled to be installed in the Spring.
The Watergoat project is made entirely possible through grant funding. This initiative underscores the City's commitment to environmental stewardship and proactive measures to preserve its natural resources.
