According to a release, the County and Volusia working with the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County, will be hosting a COVID-19 vaccinations event for individuals 65 years old and older from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, January 14.
The event will take place at the Volusia County Fairgrounds located on New York Ave in Deland.
The vaccination site will be a drive-up event and pre-registration will be required. The Moderna vaccine will be administered at this site. Vehicles must enter and exit via N. Prevatt Avenue.
Appointments are required.
Online registration will open at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13. Five hundred appointments will be available and are available in one-hour timeslots. Once a timeslot is full, appointments will no longer be available during that timeslot. There is a maximum of two registrations per transaction online and three registrations per transaction via telephone.
Individuals who are not able to access the internet via a computer, tablet, or telephone may call 866-345-0345 for assistance scheduling an appointment until registrations have reached capacity for this event. Calls will be answered in the order they are received and may be busy due to high call volumes.
With high demand and limited supply of vaccine, appointments are expected to fill very quickly.
Individuals will be required to complete a screening and consent form before receiving a vaccination.
Individuals who have had any other vaccinations in the previous 14 days or tested positive for COVID-19 in the previous 10 days do not qualify for the vaccine.
For the full list of screening questions that may disqualify an individual from vaccine eligibility, review section two of the form available at volusiahealth.com/shots
Those who have an appointment should arrive at the site during the hour at which their appointment is scheduled. Due to limited capacity, individuals are encouraged not to arrive before their confirmed timeframe.
Individuals without an appointment will not receive a vaccine.
DOH-Volusia will return to this location in 28 days to offer the second dose to those who are due. Those who receive a vaccination should return to the site during the same appointment timeframe as their first appointment in 28 days for their second dose. Individuals may not report to a different site for their following dose. When returning to the site, DOH-Volusia will only offer the second dose of the vaccine.
