AVID Student Earns Dell Scholarship
Karina Morales-Herrera, an outstanding AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) student from T. DeWitt Taylor Middle-High School in Pierson, has been named a Dell Scholar recipient. Karina's dedication and hard work have earned her a $20,000 scholarship, a brand-new computer, and funds for textbooks. This remarkable achievement not only highlights Karina's success but also marks the 21st time an AVID student from Taylor has been honored with the Dell Scholarship.
Dell Scholars is an initiative of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation. The Dell Scholars program works to provide students with personalized, multifaceted academic, financial, and emotional support needed to navigate college and launch a successful career. AVID is a systemic approach that supports Volusia County Schools' goal to increase achievement for each and every student. "AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
